“We need assistance to prepare an innovative bid for a competitive tender”

Balfour Beatty Vinci JV

The Background:

Balfour Beatty Vinci came together as a joint venture to bid for the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station, phase 1 earthworks and phase 2 civil works tenders.

The Challenge:

This was the first time the two, as major companies from the construction and engineering industry, had worked together on a project. Bid Pro Quo’s mission was to align the two cultures within the organisations so the two could work as one team, bringing much sought-after progress to the project.

The Solution:

This was the first time the two, as major companies from the construction and engineering industry, had worked together on a project. Bid Pro Quo’s mission was to align the two cultures within the organisations so the two could work as one team, bringing much sought-after progress to the project.

BPQ kept the teams focused on the issues and maintained a practical work programme ensuring that the section was written to a high standard in line with EDF’s requirements and in keeping with the overall strategy of the whole submission.

These companies, it was important to draw on their extensive experience of similar projects in the nuclear sector, and align their respective systems and processes into a new structure to suit the Hinkley delivery.

The Outcome:

The two companies were able to function, present themselves as one cohesive unit, and deliver. This resulted in a high-quality submission from Balfour Beatty Vinci JV, and the partnership reached the interview stage, further cementing its reputation in the nuclear sector.
